North Carolina Encourages Stakeholders to Host Blood Drives
Greensboro, NC (April 1, 2016) As part of the life-saving effort, North Carolina 811 is encouraging all stakeholders to host blood drives at their businesses between April 1st and August 31st or personally donate at a local donation center. April is National Safe Digging Month and August 11th is 811 Day. NC 811 along with, Virginia 811, Pennsylvania 811, USA North 811 and Georgia 811 will be raising awareness for the “811” campaign through partnering with other stakeholders to collect 811 gallons of blood between April and August. Some Call Centers will host blood drives while others will support stakeholders in creating their own drives. (Stakeholders include utility companies, contractors, excavators, locating companies, and anyone involved in excavation and safety).
Stakeholders that are interested in hosting a blood drive can contact Tami Stout-NC811 Liaison at tami@nc811.org to receive NC811 material and a blood drive giveaway to hand out to participants. A blood collection donation form has been set up on the NC 811 website by visiting http://www.nc811.org/blood-drive.html to collect any blood donation throughout the state of North Carolina. Each day we save lives through the 811 awareness, so we want to help save lives through donating blood and meeting our goal of 811 gallons.
Watch how blood donation helped this family.
