GREENSBORO, NC (June 27, 2016) Piedmont Natural Gas has been named the NC811 Safe Digging Partner for June 2016 due to its ongoing commitment to safety, damage prevention and spreading the “Call Before You Dig” message to the public.

“This is truly the type of Safe Digging Partner NC811 is looking for:  The commitment to keeping the community safe while excavating and providing a vital utility service to their customers,” said NC811’s Director of Education Ann Rushing.  Piedmont Natural Gas attends Utility Coordinating Committee meetings across the state along with many different collaborative efforts with NC811 to promote damage prevention and public safety.

NC811 acknowledged Piedmont’s commitment to damage prevention at a company communications meeting at Piedmont Natural Gas on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.  NC811 began the Safe Digging Partner program in 2015.

“We actively promote safety to our employees and externally to our customers and vendors,” said Piedmont’s Managing Director of Utility Operations, Keith Napier. “We’ve made it a company-wide goal to put safety first in all we do, and we’re honored to partner with NC811 to convey how important damage prevention is to our customers and our communities.”

Every six minutes an underground utility line is damaged because someone decided to dig without calling 811 first.  Find out more about becoming a Safe Digging Partner.
